In 1993 the thought occurred to me that you shouldn’t have to be Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, or some big professional athlete to get your picture on a cereal box. There are a lot of persons, and not just athletes, in local communities that could and should be recognized.

Thus, I started the Carlisle Cereal Company, named for the township in then Dakota Territory where my great-grandfather homesteaded and the same farm where I was raised and where our family still farms today.

Since the founding of the company, we have created almost 3,000 different box designs recognizing tens of thousands of people in 48 of the 50 states.

Our Hometown Stars cereal allows you to put local pictures and information on a cereal box to honor groups in your community. It appears in a community only when a grocer, another local retailer, or a sponsoring organization orders the cereal. And we sell them with such a small minimum order that any community and almost any size group can participate.

IT IS A GREAT WAY TO GET YOUR COMMUNITY EXCITED!!!

Hometown Stars cereal is often sold by a local grocer as a promotion to recognize a group. The cereal can also be sold by booster clubs, service groups, and others in the community. It is an excellent way to kick off a sports season as well as honoring championship teams.

In the past, in addition to honoring sports teams, we have featured bands, choirs, senior classes, all class reunions, school organizations, an Olympic gold medal winner, and even a race horse. Each cereal box is individually shrink-wrapped so it is great if you want to display it as a keepsake or give as a gift. In fact, because of its sentimental value, few of the cereal boxes are ever opened.

You will not believe what it does to build community pride, promote group spirit, and enhance the self-esteem of the people on the box. It is also a wonderful way to increase traffic when sold in a retail store.

We also offer mini-boxes of tootsie rolls in the 2 or 5 ounce size utilizing the same Hometown Stars concept. These are great for concession stands, school canteens or direct fund raising.
